Tanenbaum Keale LLP associate Timothy Freeman and Joseph Sala, Ph.D. of Exponent, Inc. will be presenting at the New Jersey Defense Association’s Annual Convention on Friday, June 25, in Cooperstown, New York. The CLE program focuses on the limitations of witness perception and how confirmation and expectation bias can impact expert testimony in litigation.
Sala will provide a human factors analysis of the flaws and shortcomings of fact witness perception and how confirmation bias can influence the reliability of expert opinions. Freeman will address legal issues regarding the admissibility of expert testimony and how the concept of confirmation bias can be utilized to challenge expert testimony and cross-examine expert witnesses.
At TK, Freeman focuses his practice in the areas of product liability and catastrophic personal injury. Sala is vice president and principal scientist for Exponent, a multidisciplinary engineering and scientific consulting firm. His work focuses on the cognitive, perceptual, physical, and developmental human factors issues relating to accidents and injuries.
