Tanenbaum Keale LLP partner Christopher Marks recently moderated and took part in a four-person panel discussion titled “Deposition Tactics That Move The Needle” during the Defense Asbestos Litigation Seminar (DALS) held last week in Las Vegas.

The session included viewpoints from an attorney, in-house counsel representative and two insurance professionals. They collectively explained best practices on what to do — and alternatively what not to do — using real-world examples to show how to confront lies, build key defenses and create the best possible record to assist a client in negotiations and enable a trial lawyer to deliver a favorable outcome.

Brenda Godfrey of SPX Corporation in Atlanta, Kevin Cooke of The RiverStone Group, and Fred Schaefer, Esq. of Nationwide Indemnity joined Marks for the discussion.

DALS bring together defense lawyers, clients and affiliates to share ideas behind closed doors in an audience limited to the defense side of the litigation, who are interested in trends and techniques and potential solutions to pressing issues in asbestos matters. Attendees network with in-house counsel and insurance representatives to strengthen current relationships and develop new ones.

Marks is an accomplished trial lawyer admitted to practice law in Washington, Oregon and California and is admitted to appear before the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Southern and Central Districts of California, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Washington and the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon. He focuses his practice on commercial matters, consumer litigation, and high-exposure tort matters, including product liability claims related to asbestos and talc; consumer products; and transportation.
