Tanenbaum Keale LLP Chief Technologist Kenneth Jones recently authored an article for Corporate Counsel looking at how to best utilize document management systems within a legal department in a manner that provides the most value to the business. Titled “Extending The Value Of Document Management Systems In the Legal Profession,” he explains how there is now an assumption that the use of these systems, especially sophisticated ones, is a strong practice and how service providers are expanding the capabilities of products.
The article is Part I of a two-part series with the initial focus on productivity and efficiency.
“Corporate lawyers face similar same challenges today. Email, financial, document management, practice management, e-billing/financial analysis tools and e-discovery applications are resident in most corporate law departments,” Jones wrote. “Anything that simplifies work is generally welcomed with open arms.
“Document management systems may seem like unlikely candidates to offer integration to the user experience, but their progress in this area is a pleasant surprise.”
